Digital Simulation of Building Performance - QA
Submitted by qa_admin_07 on Sun, 06/01/2008 - 17:06.This web site makes the case for the provision of Quality Assurance systems online. The proposal is that reliable simulations that predict what reality might be in new building designs require roadmaps to:
Guide to Rendering (Day)Light
Submitted by qa_admin_07 on Thu, 05/08/2008 - 23:38.This is a step by step guide to using digital models to predict light levels inside buildings under varying daylight conditions. It defines the state of the art in the Digitl Craft of light simulation.
Selecting Daylight Rendering Software
Submitted by the_donn on Sun, 11/25/2007 - 18:33.This project is trialling the use of existing calibration test cases for lighting computer programs as a consumer guide. The goal is to gather as much information as possible from users world wide on how well computer simulation programs work by using the CIE (Commission Internationale De L’Éclairage) Technical Committee (TC 3.33) report on the accuracy of computer programs used in the estimation of lighting levels for the interior spaces of buildings..
Daylight: Exemplary Buildings

It is clear that the performance of daylighting systems can be judged objectively and subjectively, and that energy aspects are partly visible and partly invisible. However, only on-site observations and measurements can detect some aspects of daylighting which are difficult to predict with tools: exact final optical performance of systems, rendering of the indoor space, quality of views, dynamics of
Daylight Glare Bibliography
Submitted by the_donn on Mon, 06/04/2007 - 17:39.Despite the growing awareness of the need for visual comfort, there is no simple method which can be used to assess all the factors (eg: glare, view, uniformity etc.) affecting visual comfort in daylit offices which are built and occupied. This report basically takes the form of a literature study. It investigates which factors influence visual comfort in daylit offices and how each of these factors can be measured to give an accurate assessment of the visual comfort of the occupants.
Simulation QA Wiki
Submitted by qa_admin_07 on Tue, 05/27/2008 - 15:23.Daylight has been argued for many years to be economical and beneficial to health and productivity. The Daylight for the 21st Century IEA Task 31 Research Task participants compiled a short list of building examples that use daylight well.

ROADMAP: a guide to good daylighting
Submitted by qa_admin_07 on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 16:39.The IEA "Daylight for the 21st Century" Research Task 31 participants have expended a considerable amount of time examining how their research relates to the state of the art in daylighting of buildings. This roadmap is a result of that research analysis.
IEA SHC: Task 31 Outputs

Simulation of Imagined Realities
Submitted by the_donn on Wed, 01/09/2008 - 17:28.What is proposed in aecsimqa is Quality Assurance (QA) procedures for designers and simulationists that eventually will be codified and incorporated into the environmental design decision support tools (eddst’s) themselves. These procedures are to ensure that the ‘black box’ of a digital simulation of building performance yields information that designers feel they can trust.
