Evolution and economics in dental office design
Pat Carter and Jeff Carter, DDS Most people would agree that designing an effective dental facility requires an intimate understanding of dentistry and a thoughtful identification of the design objectives for a specific practice. That statement alone involves a multitude of details and design decisions that can be quite overwhelming (assuming you want to attend to all the details and get it “right”). And while that is the primary part of the designing process, evolving factors outside of the

Prague, Czech Republic: Day 11
After two nights in our large double room at the guest house, we had to move to a single with a double bed in it. When we made our reservations 2 months ago, we knew that this would have to be the arrangement since Guesthouse Lida was already pretty booked up. So we got our bags ready to be moved and headed out on the town. Our plan was to stay on the east side of the river and to tour the Old Town and New Town quarters. We started by heading to the Old Town Square to watch the anatomical clock

Mass Appeal Stops The Presses
Keith Haring memorial. All seemed right in the world of NYC street art and Liberal politics, but oops… Shepard put his poster over NYC graf staple MARTY, who has been holding down that spot for years. It was not intended to be disrespectful of him, but if he chooses to be that small minded and petty about it I can’t

Boise Music Week
I got to take in a couple of the concerts for this annual Boise event. Caught the Saturday afternoon concert at the Band Shell with folk groups, jazz groups, dancers and the like. There was also a children's lantern parade (still in broad daylight but nice...). Rode my bike to Bar Guernika, afterwards, for their Saturday Beef Tongue and some beer. The next night I was at the Cathedral of the Rockies for the Church Night performance. Having never been, I was taken in by COTR's architecture. It

Den Haag (with some Delft thrown in)
I really struggled to get up this morning, well get going at least. Something about not having to make a breakfast call meant that I kind of took it really slowly… but hey it’s my party.. so I figured that was fine.. to a point. After some breakfast, a little bit of lonely planet recon, some checking of emails etc I finally got ready for the world. By then it was 12:30 which sounds late, but it doesn’t get dark here until late.. so really I had plenty of daylight. Jump on the number 24 (aft

Ghost Girl
"Damn!" The tree root had caught Michael again. The slope of the street that led to his house was perfect for skateboarding down, but the sidewalk was old, the neighborhood was old. And tall, big leaf maples lined the street, sometimes causing cracks and ridges in the sidewalk. Occasionally one would be big enough to provide enough of a gentle launch, but caught unawares the consequences could be painful. And he hated the thought of someone seeing that the sidewalk had made him fall. He gathered
